Django I got disfellowshipped years and years ago I have never regretted it one bit. If I had not been disfellowshipped I probably would have just faded by losing interest in the borg. As for them reading your DA letter from the platform I doubt it, but I've been out so long and they keep changing, who knows?

i regret not getting disfellowshipped/da'd
by Django_Unchained ini'd particularly like to stick it to the woman who gave birth to me by sending a da letter to her congregation, though admittedly i wasn't part of hers when i stopped going.. say i were to send the letter to her cult hall, would the letter be read during the announcement?
how does that work?.

Some of my family went on this trip recently and everyone I know that has gone on it before has been "blown away" by the special witness tour of the MET, specicfically the "Woman and the Seed" tour. Anyone have any details? All I know is that it's a tour usually run by a pioneer where they take archaeological finds and somehow connect them to bible (JW) prophecy. I'm curious!
I am an older Dfd witness may I ask what a MET tour is?

"What a strange thread. Why does anybody even have to give it a second thought?"
I agree Cofty, I could not do to my children what was done to me by my parents and thier parents and relatives for any price. Money is important to me just like it is to evryone else, but there are just some things I can't put aprice on.

The World Book Encyclopedia explains that "traditionally, the term cult referred to any form of worship or ritual observance." By that criterion, all religious organizations could be classified as cults. However, in general usage today, the word "cult" has a different meaning. The same encyclopedia notes that "since the mid-1900's, publicity about cults has altered the meaning of the term. Today, the term is applied to groups that follow a living leader who promotes new and unorthodox doctrines and practice.
Following a living leader sort of like the(meaning one) faithfull and discreet slave instead of a group of leaders meaning faithfull and discreet slaves.

if you had a miraculous, unexplained escape from death..
by nonjwspouse inplus you were not baptised but grew up in a jw family, stopped attending or studying for 30 years then attempted to go back for a couple years.
the attempt had serious negative effects on your marriage, and personality, so you decided to stop all studies etc, for the time being ( over a year).
but with the full intention to return later and be baptised.. this miraculous, unexplained escape from death was discovered to have occured during this time of complete detachment from studies etc.. what would you feel explained this escape?

"Time and unforeseen circumstances befall us all..."
"...those looking for signs and portents..."
"...the sun shines and the rain falls on the wicked and the righteous..."
So true glander I have escaped death several times in my life twice as a witness and 3 times after being disfellowshiped. I was even dead for over minute and there is nothing that could drag me back to that religion.

by cofty inhave you ever come across words that resonate with you?
it doesn't have to be a great gem of wisdom, just something that is meaningful to you.. please share, and if you want to, tell us why it's meaningful to you.. here is something that made me nod when i first read it.... .
"fortunate are those who have learned to see, in the wild things of nature, something to be loved, something to be wondered at, something to be reverenced, for they have found the key to a never-failing source of recreation and refreshment".

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Robert Frost from the poem a road less travelled. This one has been with me and applicable my whole life.

A fish would never get caught if he kept his mouth shut. (My own saying I think. I use it a lot with my wife. LOL)
